Active ageing in Eastern Southland

Feasibility Study

Ready for Living Stage 1 (feasibility) was funded by MBIE through the Southern Regional Development Strategy and was completed in August 2018.

The brief for the feasibility study included several components:

  • To undertake local research to understand perceptions of retirement, and the Gore District’s capacity for supporting people in their 65+ years, now and into the future;
  • Undertake research nationally and internationally to understand what work is underway in this space, and explore whether models in existence elsewhere could be duplicated in the Gore District;
  • Through a co-design process, develop a series of recommendations for the Gore District to consider and the common thinking of ageing population as a “challenge” or “problem” to be broken down.

The report from this feasibility study, and a one page project overview that depicts the fundamentals of the project based on the feasibility outcomes, is available to download below.
