41% of Gore District's population were aged over 50 in 2017.

Actively Ageing

Eastern Southland's population is steadily ageing and we are shaping the future to make our town a better place to live.

Proactive attention to this fact now will ensure that Eastern Southland remains a great place to live for all ages. Older people bring enormous value to the community in many ways.

The Ready for Living project will ensure that barriers to their participation are minimised so the benefits of Rural City Living are enhanced, maximised and enjoyed by all ages.

READY
FOR LIVING

GDC Ready For Living MISSION

Active ageing:

Enhancing the contribution made by older people to the community

We’re evolving and adapting

The current purpose of this website and the working going on around it is to develop a Ready for Living action plan.

Nothing is set in stone and community consultation will drive development of the action plan.

We would love your feedback at any stage through this process which we aim to conclude by mid 2019.
